Support Sam and Matt

After getting engaged and becoming pregnant in 2017, my amazing friends Sam and Matt, who currently live in Australia, were excited about their years ahead and becoming a family. On Boxing Day 2017 Matt woke with stomach pain, which he thought could be appendicitis. With all doctors surgeries closed over the Xmas break, they went to A&E. After several scans and an incredible, thorough medical team at Manly hospital, within the same day they were informed that Matt has metastatic stage 4 bowel cancer. An earth shattering shock! Matt is known as the Ironman amongst friends, competing in triathlons and never missing a day to live life to the full.

After multiple discussions with consultants, a planned and rejected operation to remove tumours, it was decided that they had to start chemotherapy as a matter of urgency. Following official diagnosis, within a week, he started an aggressive first cycle of chemotherapy, which didn’t all run smoothly. The effects of the chemotherapy are tough and he is currently suffering the horrible side effects, whilst being supported by my amazing, pregnant best friend Sam.

Sam and Matt are an incredible, popular and health conscious couple; regularly taking part in triathlons and raising money for other causes. They have been overwhelmed by the support of friends and family who have sent gifts and food to help support them. However, with a question mark over future income, a wedding and baby on the way and some very expensive medical bills due money stresses are creeping in.

I am desperate to support them (which is incredibly hard from over the other side of the world!) but feel that this is a great way that people can show love and support whilst helping to relieve some of the stresses around money.
