Support Sam: A Leader's Last YDA Vote

Hello friends -

This is it. The last Young Democrats of America convention where my vote will truly matter (July 16th-19th). Over the last several years, both in and out of the Colorado Young Democrats, in my home county - Douglas County, across Colorado and the nation, I am grateful for the incredible experiences that I've had in my 15 years of organizing. From previous YDA Conventions, mentoring up-and-coming Young Democrats, attending the Democratic National Convention, and now as Chair of the Disability Strong Democrats, one thing has remained consistent - you.

You are the reason that my voice matters and that the opportunities that I've had are because I'm a trusted leader in this movement. Without you, I could not do even slightly what I do because you invest in me. This isn't the end, though.

I am excited to continue my growth with the Colorado Democratic Party, especially working with the team we're building at the Disability Strong Democrats! We're developing a collaborative process that will integrate us effectively with the range of non-profit organizations that have been doing this work for decades. This tact will be different from disability councils in other states as we put volunteers and voters first, not last, responding to the needs of our office holders. It's going to be challenging work, but together, the Disability Community will no longer be tokenized, and that includes those of us with energy who are members of the Young Democrats of America, a decidedly large intersection of members!

As I do this, I'm considering how to organize states and national organizations to replicate this model and affirm disabled representation at all levels of government, which is still significantly lacking. What can you do? Become an ally of Disability Strong Democrats, become an ally of Colorado Young Democrats, and finally, donate to help me attend my final YDA Convention as a voting member.
