Current update:

First and foremost, thank you all for donating at the time of my father's accident. When I created Salbador's gofundme, it was urgent in that, my father had to drastically change his life after his bike accident. My father initially took a leave of absence and started going to many doctor's visits. Today, he is currently no longer employed and is still recovering from his hand injury (as well as previous injuries).

Myself and my immediate family have been helping my father financially since December. This means we have helped him with his rent, food, and transportation to doctor's visits. It's come to my attention that there is still an initial doctor's bill of 5,000 dollars we still have to pay off. My father was not was not covered by medical or any insurance at the time of his accident, generating a bill of 5,000 dollar doctor's bill from urgent care. Although he is now insured, his insurance was not able to cover the doctor's bill.

I am re-launching his gofundme to help in paying for his rent (since he is currently unemployed) and this specifically this previously mentioned doctor's bill.

I had initially planned to get a secondary job shortly after the month of January, specifically to address my father's circumstances. I hadn't found anything until late February. However, I was also involved in minor accident that derailed my secondary employment. I had to take time off from work, in general. My sister, who is also been contributing to our Dad's finical aid, was recovering from personal medical issues as well.

I am once again asking for any financial support during this time as my dad continues his recovery and as I find more stable ways to generate income for my dad.

I have made this GoFundMe because on 11/17/2025, my father, Salbador’s, was struck by a car on his bike at the intersection of McLaughlin Ave and Venice Blvd. He was doing laundry and had stepped away to grab a bite to eat at the local Campos Tacos on Venice Blvd. This accident happened very unexpectedly. Unfortunately, he has sustained injuries since the accident and for the past month has not been able to work. My father needs assistance with his rent on top of medical fees at the moment.

It has been a journey in helping my dad after his accident. My sister took him to urgent care to be seen shortly after the accident. The doctors took X-rays of him and discovered he had fractured his left middle finger and left ring finger. Right now, he is unable to use his left hand completely. Additionally, the accident affected his back discs and has caused him issues related to walking. He was already experiencing problems related to walking. Prior to the accident, he had developed a limp from previous injuries. At the beginning of all this, our father was experiencing a lot of physical pain. He was having a hard time walking normally. Today, he can walk, but he is currently using a cane to support himself while experiencing some physical pain. All in all, he is still in no condition to return to work right now.

My sister and I had to rework our schedules to take our dad to medical visits for the past month. We have also had to navigate the healthcare system (Medi-Cal) and get our father re-insured. Right before he was injured, he had lost his health insurance. My sister had to pay out of pocket to have him seen by a doctor, which was expensive considering the procedures and tests they ran on my dad. We have had to reorganize our schedules and financially aid our father during his medical transition. In the end, it has been an incredibly stressful and costly month. Despite the timely situation, it’s been worth it all to get my dad the medical help he needs.

Today, he has been out of work for roughly a month. Recently, he told me that he is concerned about how he will be able to pay for his rent this upcoming month and future months since he is still injured. Our dad has never been involved in any kind of accidents until recently. His work does not offer any paid time off or pay related to being injured outside of work. For more context, he works as a prep cook/dishwasher for a local restaurant in West LA. He is in his 60s and working in the kitchen. He did not expect being immobile or being in need of financial help. I can tell he is concerned.

My sister and I are not best equipped to financially support him at the moment.

Family from my father’s side is not fully capable of assisting him during this transition either.

So I am asking you all, the community, for help in assisting my father as he continues to recover from his injuries. We are appreciative of any kind of support.
