The Rodden family are much-loved members of the Mount Buller, Merrijig and Mansfield communities. Sally and Cha are deeply ingrained in life at Mount Buller, having raised their children, Jared and Talae, through many winters on the mountain, managing lodges including the University Ski Club and running Downhill Donuts. In Mansfield, they are known to many through their retail shop, Anyroom, and in Merrijig, where they live. They have touched countless lives with their warmth, generosity and willingness to help others.
Sally, Cha and Jared were recently devastated by the heartbreaking loss of their son and brother Talae, following a tragic and completely unexpected accident on the Mount Buller Road. On 10 August, Sally and Talae were driving down the mountain when a tree suddenly fell onto their car. In a single moment, no family could ever imagine, Talae tragically lost his life and Sally was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
There are simply no words to describe the shock and heartbreak felt by everyone who knows this beautiful family. Talae was a talented and much-loved young man, cherished by his family, friends and so many people who had the privilege of knowing him. His loss has left an enormous hole in the communities he was so much a part of.
At this incredibly difficult time, we want Sally, Cha and Jared to know that they are not alone. We are establishing this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial pressure that comes with such an unimaginable tragedy. Funds raised will go directly towards medical, funeral and other immediate expenses, as well as helping the family navigate the difficult months ahead.
No contribution is too small. Every donation, message of support and act of kindness will mean so much to Sally, Cha and Jared. For a family who has given so much to others, this is our opportunity to come together and give something back.
Please help us surround Sally, Cha and their family with the love and support of the Mt Buller, Merrjig, Mansfield communities and beyond. Our hearts are broken for them for the loss of their beautiful son, Talae.
Rest peacefully, Talae. You will be forever loved and remembered. ❤️
