Support Safe Paddling on Savage River
Donation protected
Precision Rafting Expeditions has been dedicated to maintaining the safety and accessibility of the Savage River for many years, taking on the challenging task of removing hazardous strainers that threaten paddlers. With the first scheduled whitewater release of 2025 coming up on June 7th, the need for a clear and safe river is more urgent than ever. Strainers—fallen trees and debris that block or narrow river channels—pose significant risks to kayakers and rafters, sometimes making entire sections impassable and increasing the danger for everyone on the water.
Since Garrett College and the Adventure Sports Institute stopped providing shuttle services several years ago, Precision Rafting Expeditions has shouldered the responsibility and costs of wood removal almost entirely out of pocket, with only occasional support from the community. The funds raised through this effort will directly offset labor costs and help cover the fuel and equipment expenses needed for saw operation and transportation. While we cannot promise absolute safety or guarantee the removal of every strainer, every contribution will make a real difference in improving conditions and ensuring that the Savage River remains a safer and more enjoyable destination for whitewater enthusiasts.
We are committed to preserving the river experience for all paddlers, and your support will help us continue this important work. Thank you for considering a donation to keep the Savage River open and as safe as possible for everyone who loves to be on the water.
