Support Ryan’s Next Chapter: Reliable Car and Stable Housing

My name is Ryan, and I’m writing this with deep gratitude and hope.

In August 2024, I was at one of the lowest points in my life—navigating betrayal, heartbreak, and homelessness. I was living outside behind Kitty’s in Hudson, with permission, doing my best to stay safe and warm. That’s when I met Alyssa and her husband J.J.—two people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.

By September, as the cold and rain started to set in, J.J. and Alyssa welcomed me into their home. They didn’t just offer shelter—they offered dignity. J.J. found ways for me to support his work at CCSM, and I was glad to contribute volunteer time. It meant I didn’t have to feel like a burden. I could stand tall and feel useful again.

From there, things slowly began to change. I started looking ahead. I attended community events, reconnected with family, and on Christmas Eve, J.J. even helped me get to New York City to see my mother.

Then, on Christmas morning, after traveling to see my mother in NYC, I had a heart attack. That changed everything. I stayed to handle long-delayed matters—reinstating my license, resolving IRS and child support issues.

When I returned to the Hudson Valley I completed a computer class top of my group, volunteered at the Warming Center, and eventually became staff. In February, I got my permit. In March, I passed my road test.

Now, in April 2025, I’m doing everything I can to rebuild my life—but I need a few big pieces in place to move forward fully.

I’m asking for help securing:

• A reliable car to maintain and expand my work

• Rent for a small place to live independently

A car would allow me to work more hours, show up for community members, and stay connected to my family. Rent support would give me the stability to heal and thrive.
