Hi friends,

My name is Lydia, and I’m the Communications and Operations Coordinator for RUNX1 Research Program (RRP), a nonprofit organization focused on supporting individuals and families affected by RUNX1-FPD, a rare, inherited disorder that significantly increases the risk of developing blood cancer.

Every May, RRP launches our X-Out Blood Cancer Campaign, and this year, I’ve decided to take part by creating my own GoFundMe in support of it.

Here’s why:
I love the work I get to do. At RRP, I’ve had the privilege of working with dedicated scientists, researchers, and incredibly resilient patients who inspire me every day. It’s rare to be part of an organization that’s as motivated, collaborative, and compassionate as this one and it makes showing up every day deeply meaningful.

For the first time ever, there are clinical trials specifically designed for people with RUNX1-FPD. These studies are a huge step forward in understanding how we can reduce cancer risk and improve outcomes. But for many patients, the barrier isn’t the diagnosis or even qualifying it’s the cost of getting there.

A single study visit can cost a family hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Flights. Hotels. Missed work. These aren’t luxuries, they’re necessities if you want to participate. And too often, they’re dealbreakers.

This campaign is working to raise $50,000 to offset the cost of travel expenses so that no patient has to choose between their finances and a chance to be part of medical progress.

The money we raise helps patients join two critical trials:

A Sirolimus Pilot Study at MD Anderson Cancer Center, investigating whether a low dose of sirolimus can improve blood cell production and lower cancer risk in RUNX1-FPD patients.

A Stem Cell Harvesting and Banking Trial co-sponsored with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), building a path toward future gene-editing therapies using a patient’s own corrected cells.

These trials are more than experiments, they represent hope. They’re a sign that change is happening for our community. But they can only move forward if patients can show up.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a direct impact on cancer prevention, this is your chance!

I’m asking for your help, whether it’s $5, $50, or just sharing this page. Every action matters. Every dollar helps open the door for someone who deserves a chance at finding answers!

Let’s X-Out Blood Cancer together.
