Hi, my name is Rowan, and I’m a Life Scout with Troop 28 in Glencoe, Illinois.
For my Eagle Scout project, I’m rebuilding the outdoor fire pit at The Little House of Glencoe — a one-of-a-kind local treasure tucked into the woods, just a mile from downtown.
The Little House has been part of our community for more than 75 years. Built in the 1940s by local Girl Scout leaders, it was created as a safe, comfortable place for girls to learn outdoor skills and experience the joy of camping close to home. Today, it continues to serve as a rustic gathering space for Boy and Girl Scout troops, youth groups, and families throughout the North Shore.
The current fire pit area is worn down and no longer safe for larger gatherings. My project will rebuild and improve the fire pit to make it a more welcoming place for scouts, and add new safety features to make it a welcoming place for future Scouts and families to enjoy.
This project is especially meaningful to me because I’ve been coming to Little House since I was a Tiger Cub Scout in first grade. I’ve camped here, cooked here, earned ranks and awards here — and even helped celebrate other Scouts achieving Eagle. Now, it’s my turn to give back to this special place that has given me so much.
Your donation will go directly toward materials, tools, and supplies needed to rebuild the fire pit are, as well as equipment and services to complete the project safely and efficiently. Every contribution makes a real difference:
$15 purchases three bags of gravel for leveling and drainage
$30 provides half a row of bricks for the new structure
$50 buys pizza lunch and water for the volunteers helping me
or I appreciate any donation amount you want to give
Funds will also help cover the cost of renting machinery to safely demolish the old fire pit and hauling away debris through a local service. If there are any additional funds, I will build some new benches for around the fire pit.
Thank you for helping me continue the legacy of Scouting and community service at the Little House of Glencoe. Your support will help create a safe and lasting gathering place for generations of Scouts and families to enjoy!
