Support Route 10 Drive-In's Flood Recovery Efforts
Donation protected
A severe flood hit Hawarden, IA on Saturday June 22, 2024.
This flood was worse than anyone expected, and it took the homes of my best friends family as well as the restaurant they poured their heart and soul into opening July 2023.
This displaced her parents, her nana, sister in law, stepbrother, one year old niece, 4 dogs and 3 cats.
The damages are extensive, with the water levels still rising. Both homes and the restaurant have at least 4 foot of water.
Childhood keepsakes and memories have been lost. Much of the equipment at the restaurant has been destroyed as well as all of the product.
It has been the hardest 24 hours any of us have had to go through, and who knows what it yet to come. The Route 10 Drive In was well loved by many in Hawarden, and was thriving. This was a passion project for both Jennifer and Scott, and we are deeply sad that it may be lost.
I'm asking the community, friends and family, to donate if and what you can.
Many in the town have been affected, and it is devastating.
Update: The water level is lowering and in the coming days we will assess the damage.
For those asking, they do not have flood insurance on the building. The funds raised here will be used in any way they need, to help them during these hard times.
Update: The water level has receded and upon looking at the damages we have realized it's worse than we thought it would be. Much of the equipment is not salvageable. I have upped the goal, to rebuild the interior and replace equipment.
