Support Rossi Family Through Failed Business and New Baby

Donation protected

Hello, I'm Keshava Rossi—a father of three, devoted partner, and small business owner for over 12 years. Many of you know me for the decade I’ve spent creating nourishing food at festivals and more recently at our restaurant in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Today, I’m reaching out with humility as my family faces the challenges of a failing restaurant and the arrival of our third child.

For over ten years, I’ve poured my heart into building festival food concepts, including Soltribe Cuisine, Notcho Fish Taco, and Jungle Fried Rice. In 2022, after our best year yet, I invested everything we earned into a brick-and-mortar restaurant in hopes it would provide stability and allow me to be home with my family rather than traveling for work. Initially, the restaurant had a strong start, but soon, it required every extra dollar from my festival income just to stay afloat. I tried everything—changing the menu, lowering prices, hosting events, and reducing staff—but inflation and a market downturn have kept us at a continual loss.

Recently, Jungle Fried Rice was accepted into Insomniac events, offering a new income opportunity, but with all our capital tied up in the restaurant, both our festival business and family security are at risk. In the last few weeks, life changed dramatically. We were blessed with the arrival of our third child, baby Zora Marigold, during the most financially insecure time of our lives. Just after her birth, we received news that Envision Festival—an event accounting for a significant portion of our annual income—had canceled its 2025 event. With five other events also canceled, this has left us with limited festival income, the backbone of our business.

We had invested all our personal funds into keeping the restaurant operational, counting on the busy festival season to regain stability. Now, with no income guarantees, we face the very real possibility of being unable to cover our personal rent next month and other essential expenses for our family. With options running out, I am humbly asking for any support you might be able to offer.

With your help, we can continue serving our community and work toward a secure future for our family. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us stay afloat and keep hope alive for our business and family. Thank you deeply for your generosity and for being part of our journey in this challenging time.

Our Plan:

We are closing the restaurant as soon as is feasible, but we have decided to keep it open because right now it is the only income we have, and we are hopeful that Christmas Season brings some revenue, but the reality is that revenue is down nearly 50% from last year.

Any funds we are able to raise will be used to pay for food, moving out of our house, and paying our bills until festival season starts again.
We are going to take the following action to make our monthly fixed expenses as low as possible:
  • Closing the restaurant as soon as possible, no later than the end of the busy season (Jan/Feb).
  • Moving out of our house and in with family or a place we can live rent-free.
  • Taking the kids out of school until we can afford to send them again.

We are asking for support in any way you feel called or able to provide it. This can include the following:
  • If you live in SMA, come and enjoy some food at Soltribe while it’s still around.
  • Think of using us for catering your event.
  • Buying any of our furniture and/or household items.
  • Donating to this fundraiser.
  • Calling with a positive word and reassuring chat.
  • Offering any creative ways for me to earn money for my family.

UPDATE ON USE OF THE FUNDS RECEIVED SO FAR;

1. Personal rent for November paid. December most of the way there. We have a few options for places to live rent free, as soon as the baby is a little more robust we will looking sell furniture and move. This has given us time and feels so much better!

2. Finiquitos to be paid to employees who we let go. We are down to 4 employees at Soltribe while we ride out the last few weeks of being open. As per Mexican law we have to pay them their a severance.

3. Utilities and Insurance paid for past months, Aug - Sept. Electrical, water, etc
