Support Rosie and her family through brain cancer
Donation protected
On the 22nd December 2024 our beautiful ice cream-loving dancing queen niece, 4 year old Rosie Hassall, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Rosie had been suffering from a squint and headaches for a few months. It took quite a while, and a second opinion, but she was eventually referred to paediatrics just before Christmas 2024. It turned out to be a very difficult Christmas.
She spent 8 days in Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool, and had a biopsy of the tumour. In the new year, we were told that Rosie has a 6cm paediatric bithalamic glioma containing a rare genetic abnormality.

This is an incredibly rare kind of tumour - Alder Hey's pathology lab has only come across one case of this ever before. It cannot be removed as it's right in the centre of her brain.
Charlotte and Stefan were given the heartbreaking news that this cannot be cured and that treatment will only prolong her life, and her care was transferred to the Christie in Manchester. Rosie is undergoing aggressive radiotherapy under general anaesthetic, and is also taking liquid chemotherapy.
The biopsy also caused Rosie to have balance issues - she's wobbly on her feet and has needed mobility support, but she's still dancing!
While we are all doing our best to support her, we also know that other people want to be able to help Rosie, her brother Charlie, and her parents Charlotte and Stefan navigate this difficult time - so we have set up this page to help.
Helpfully, as well as raising funds and hopefully drawing the attention of any specialists who can help treat Rosie, we can also use this page to update the many people who care about Rosie and what she is going through so that her parents and grandparents can focus on her treatment.
Money we raise through this GoFundMe will help to:
- Get Rosie to and from her appointments
- Support Stefan and Charlotte as they take time off work to care for her
- Help her to enjoy the time she has away from hospital with her family
The funds raised will go directly from GoFundMe to Rosie's parents Charlotte and Stefan.
We are incredibly grateful for any help you are able to offer the family during this immensely difficult time.
