Support Rosa Morillo: Rebuilding After a Devastating Loss

Donation protected
If you've ever had the pleasure of tasting one of Rosa Morillo's coffees from farm La Rosita, you know she is a talented producer. Today, we're reaching out to the coffee community to rally behind Rosa and her husband Olger in their time of need.

Recently, Rosa and Olger were unjustly evicted from a farm where they lived many years and had an agreement to cultivate 4 hectares of coffee. After investing three years of hard work and resources, their coffee plants were finally ready for the first harvest. Without warning, due to a family dispute of the landowner, Rosa and Olger were violently forced off the farm. Tragically, the evicting mob also bulldozed all their thriving coffee trees, destroying years of labor in mere minutes.

Thankfully, Rosa and Olger have their own farm 45 minutes away, where they've been producing their delicious coffee. However, this farm lacks essential facilities, consisting only of a wooden shack used for changing and tool storage, and a polytunnel built through a partnership with a UK roastery. Rosa and Olger now plan to move to their land and focus solely on their coffee plantation. To do this, they need to build a house on their land, buy a generator as there is no electricity, and construct other facilities that will enable them to concentrate on their coffee production and get back on their feet.

Makicuna has been collaborating with Rosa Morillo for over three years. During this time, we have found Rosa to be an incredibly hardworking and truly honest person. Together, we have worked to expand Rosa's coffee production, bringing her exceptional coffee to appreciative markets.

Now, we need your help to support Rosa and Olger as they rebuild. Every contribution will make a significant difference in helping them build their farmhouse and continue producing the high-quality coffee we all love. Join us in standing with Rosa and Olger during this challenging time.

How Your Donations Will Be Used

1. Building a House: To enable Rosa and Olger to move onto their farm, we are funding the construction of a house. The building process has already begun.
2. Purchasing a Generator: As there are no power lines near Rosa's farm, a generator is essential until electricity reaches their area.
3. Daily Living Expenses: With the loss of income from their previous farm's harvest, Rosa and Olger need financial support to cover their day-to-day living costs.

We thank you in advance for your contribution.
