Ronald Kisner’s Story
Ronald Kisner is a kidney transplant survivor and a respected member of the Cleveland, Ohio community. He is a former Jet Magazine writer, a retired Cleveland Municipal School System employee, and a dedicated deacon at Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church. He is also a devoted brother, uncle, and friend.
On Sunday, March 22, after leaving church, Ronald witnessed a man assaulting others in the parking lot and stepped in to deescalate the situation and protect a woman. In doing so, he became the victim. He was violently attacked, severely beaten, and pushed down a flight of stairs. The attacker was later apprehended by police. By the grace of God, Ronald survived. He is currently in the ICU Trauma Unit at University Hospital with multiple fractures, swelling to his optic nerve and face, and significant injuries to his shoulder, wrist, and back. He is alert and communicating by writing, but he has a long road to recovery ahead.
