Support Ron Aiken's Final Days at Home
Donation protected
Hello,
My nephew has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He has diligently sought medical and financial help through various organizations. He has been turned down because he owns a home and an automobile. He currently has no medical insurance and does not want to receive Medicaid because he doesn't want his wife to lose their home when he dies.
It isn't easy to understand how the government will only help individuals who DO NOT HAVE any assets. If he would be willing to allow his wife to become homeless when he dies, there would not be any need to seek donations. They need donations to stay afloat until she begins to receive Social Security in January.
He is currently receiving Social Security but will not be able to receive Medicare until he is 65. He was told to apply for SSID, but when they interviewed him on the phone, as soon as he told them he had a house, he became ineligible.
His wife is currently his caregiver. She was informed that she would also have been eligible to be his paid caregiver IF THEY DIDN'T OWN A HOME.
His biggest worry is his wife and her needs. I want to see him spend his last days enjoying their time together.
I see him often and observe him becoming discouraged because he is unable to take care of his wife.
I would love for him to be assured that his wife will be able to stay in their home.
He plans on staying home until he takes his last breath.
Thank you and God Bless!
