My name is Shaneequewa Samuels, and my part of my family is from Robins Bay, a small coastal community in St. Mary, Jamaica. My partner and I created Vital Frequency Retreat to bring wellness and healing to the world and we made family and friends in the Robinsbay area. Supported hundreds of people with staffing and building up the community.

If you’ve never heard of Robins Bay, it’s because it’s not a tourist town.

It’s a real Jamaica — farmers, fishermen, elders, children, and families who live close to the land and close to each other.

When the recent storm hit Jamaica, Robins Bay was one of the communities that took a hard blow — but received the least attention.

Homes have been:

• Severely damaged

• Roofs torn off

• Windows blown out

• Flooding has ruined beds, clothes, books, school supplies

• Families with newborns are without diapers and formula

• Elders with medical conditions have no transportation

• Power and water have been out in many parts

• Food has become scarce

• Gas for cooking and vehicles is limited

Many families here live day-to-day — not because they lack pride or work ethic — but because rural economies are often forgotten.

There is no big organization coming.

No government trucks.

No corporate relief.

The community is relying on itself. We are doing the best we can and 100% of the proceeds are going to the families here that we have been involved in their lives over the last 5 years.

And that is why we are asking for help.
