❤️ Please Help Me Protect My Family’s Home and Future
Hello, my name is Robert Edward Lamey. I am 77 years old, a husband, and the father of a wonderful 12-year-old son. I have worked hard my entire life, and I have never asked anyone for financial help before. But today, with a very heavy heart, I must ask for help to save my family’s home and ensure my wife and son have a secure future when I am no longer here.
This is my story.

A Lifetime of Work and a Plan for My Family
I worked for Chevron for 30 years, retiring in 2010. One year later, Chevron hired me back as a contractor, and I worked on various projects throughout Asia. In 2021 was placed on a major project to design and build a new Lubricants Plant in Map-Ta-Phut, Thailand. The project was approved to build in early 2023 with construction to begin in 2024 and completed late 2026. Knowing I had stable work ahead, my wife and I decided to invest almost all of our IRA retirement savings into building an apartment complex near Map-Ta-Phut, Thailand. Our plan was simple and hopeful:
• My wife would manage the apartment complex.
• I would continue working on the Chevron Lubricants Plant project.
• The monthly rental income from the apartment would ensure my wife and son continued to have a monthly income after I’m gone.
Since my wife is a Thai citizen who never lived long enough (5 years) in the U.S. to qualify for receiving survivor benefits from my Social Security, the apartment was meant to provide my wife's and son’s financial security once I have passed away.
By mid-2023, the apartment complex was 65–70% completed. It appeared that our dream of securing a monthly income for my family's future was taking shape.

Chevron Cancelled the Project — Everything Changed
Due to runaway inflation, in the last quarter of 2023 Chevron cancelled the lubricants plant project as the construction cost had climbed well above what was previously appropriated. My contract income disappeared completely when the project was shutdown.
With the project gone, my wife and I tried everything we could to finish the apartment complex ourselves. My wife took out a second mortgage on our home and on the land the apartment was being built on to try and finish the apartment.
Then disaster struck again.
The builder we had hired took the money and disappeared, leaving the project unfinished and our savings gone.
I was 76 at the time. I applied for hundreds of jobs, but likely because of my advanced age, no one hired me. A broker I had used before contacted me about buying AIU stock as it he said was fixing to go to IPO and would jump up in price when it did. I took him for his word and invested from my remaining retirement funds the minimum the broker said was required which was 68,000 USD. Well, AIU stock did not go to an IPO and it still hasn't. The stock started dropping and I told the broker to sell it and get some of my investment back, but he said it couldn't be sold until it went to IPO. So, I lost that 68,000 USD.

A Professional Scam Took the Last of My Savings
I still had 132,000 USD of my retirement savings remaining out of the $200,000 I had left in my IRA, but that was the last of our retirement savings. While trying to find a way to get out of our bad financial situation, I fell victim to a very sophisticated and very convincing international scam involving people pretending to be executives from HSBC Bank in England and Milan, Italy as well as a Barrister (Lawyer) in Milan.
They provided IDs, organizational charts, documentation with seals — everything looked legitimate. I desperately wanted to save my family, and I believed this would give me the funds to finish the apartment and pay the debts.
But instead, I lost nearly everything.
After investing 120,000 USD and it was time to get my share of the profits, but they demanded even more money (10,000.00 USD) to transfer my share to me. I refused, but I told them to deduct that from the money I was to receive. When I did that, they cut off all communications with me.
I provided all info and documents (as proof) of the scam to the FBI, but the FBI did nothing and never contacted me back.
I also called HSBC bank in England, and they confirmed I had been scammed.
And just like that, our last chance was gone.

Facing Losing Our Home and the Apartment Property
We have been trying to sell the unfinished apartment complex since 2024. The price has been lowered to the bare minimum, but there have been a few lookers but no buyers.
Now the second mortgages on our home and the apartment land are coming due with the land mortgage due in late February while the house mortgage is due in April. We do not have the funds to pay the interest on the apartment & land mortgage in order to extend the loan to allow more time to find a buyer. If we lose the apartment and land, we will lose our family's home of 20 years as well. My wife and son will have no home and no monthly income once I pass away.
Our only income now is my monthly Social Security, and that is stretched thin.
At 77 I know I only have at best a few years remaining and as I recently (a few months back) had a heart attack and was hospitalized with fluid in my lungs my time may be shorter than I had hoped. Immediately after the heart attack the heart specialist said my heart was functioning at 25%. Since then, my heart function has improved with it now at 50% functionality. I am doing my best to prevent a second heart attack so i can be there for my family, but I know my time certainly may be limited.
My greatest fear — the one that keeps me awake at night — is leaving my wife and young son with no home and no income.

Why I Am Asking for Help
I have helped others my whole life whenever I could, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I had to ask the world for help.
But today, I am asking.
Our short-term goal is to raise 20,000 USD to pay the interest on the apartment loan and thus kept it until we can find a buyer.
Our long-time goal is to raise $300,000 USD to:
• Pay the interest on the second mortgage on the apartment & land that comes due in late February. Doing so will give us more time sell the unfinished apartment in order to recover at least some of the money we invested in building the apartment which we will use to pay the 2nd mortgage on our family's home which comes due in April.
• Ensure my wife and son have money to live on if I should pass away.
• Help cover the cost of my son’s school and college costs in the future.
• Ensure my family's financial stability before I pass away.
Any amount you can give — no matter how small — will be a blessing to my family.
I will keep every donor updated on how the funds are used.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story and for caring enough to consider helping us.
My wife, my son, and I will be forever grateful.
