The Franklin Police Department is raising money for our new comfort dog program. River, a female chocolate lab, is the newest addition to the Police force. River and her handler, Detective Poirier, will have many responsibilities, including interacting with children and adults who have experienced traumatic events such as tragedy and violence, and providing comfort for people during times of crisis. River and Detective Poirier will also assist children and adults through the criminal justice process by accompanying them to the CAC (Child Advocacy Center), along with trial prep and court (and anything in-between).

River's calm demeanor and gentle nature have a way of melting away stress and anxiety.

River will also become a huge influence on the community by going into schools, hospitals, and nursing homes, along with attending community events and even popping into local businesses.

River will be a huge resource and asset for the Franklin community. Your donation will support River and the program with training, care, everyday essentials and outreach efforts.
