Support Rick's Community Garden
Donation protected
For 35 years, I have sustained the neighborhood garden in the Fan District alley (bound by the 2700 blocks of Hanover Avenue & Grove Avenue and the 200 blocks of N. Robinson St. & N. Mulberry St. - scroll down for map in images).
In recent years, as I approach retirement, I’ve had a “dialogue between my Head and my Heart” as I’ve pondered the work/life balance needed to keep the garden going.
In the fall of 2021, a friend began a short-term GoFundMe to support my garden that raised just over $1300. The success of that fundraiser inspired me to start and manage an ongoing GoFundMe site of my own to support the garden now and into the future.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Your financial support will change the equation for the coming season. With your support, I can reduce my professional workload, but still purchase:
- 3,000 tulip bulbs for the 2022 spring season,
- plants,
- flowers and
- cover all watering and infrastructure expenses.
The garden is a place of beauty, wonder and enchantment. It’s a place of solitude and reflection, but also a place where so many people have found and made meaningful connections with others.
This lovely video, Garden on Grove by Cate D., depicts the experience of one grateful garden visitor. I know there have been thousands more!
I have long understood the magic of nurturing a neighborhood garden, but I’m so grateful to have discovered that so many others share my passion for this community space and are even willing to invest their resources to sustain it.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing to this fundraiser and enabling me to keep serving our neighborhood in this way.
