Support Richard Gonzalez after Car Accident

Richard Gonzalez (“Pastor Richie”) was in a terrible car accident on January 1, 2024. The accident not only totaled his car, but left him with severe neck and spinal injuries. His injuries required 22 days in the hospital. The doctors initially expected his back to recover, however, this didn’t end up being the case. So he ended up needing back surgery, which he underwent on March 7th. He is currently in physical therapy, and his recovery continues to be a long and on-going process.

Unfortunately, the accident and his subsequent injuries have physically prevented him from being able to work since the accident took place back in January. The funds from the car insurance have already run out, and he unfortunately doesn’t qualify for Short Term Disability with his current employment (he hasn’t yet worked there long enough to qualify), nor does he qualify for Paid Family Medical Leave through his employment. So, unfortunately, the accident has created major stress and financial hardship for his family.

Pastor Richie has a beautiful family who he works hard to support. As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult time for the entire family. Their top priority at this time is Pastor Richie’s full recovery. Since Pastor Richie is unable to work due to his injuries, the family has lost one of their main sources of income. And It is estimated that he will likely be unable to return to work until at least July or August of 2024.

A Little Bit of Background on Pastor Richard Gonzalez:

Pastor Richie has diligently worked with the homeless community in Worcester, MA for the past 13 years. He is a very inspiring person within his community. He was actually homeless himself for many years, and was able to overcome addiction and homelessness. And then was able to help many other who were in the same situation. He has truly used his own experiences to help others. I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with and getting to know Pastor Richie over the past few years. I consider it an honor to have him as one of my close personal friends. He has helped countless people in the Worcester community and works tirelessly to help the homeless population to get their basic needs met and get on their feet. He’s the founder of Net of Compassion, an organization that provides support with recovery from homelessness and addiction. Pastor Richie and Net of Compassion feed between 200-300 people every Saturday, rain or shine. I have personally volunteered with them and have seen with my own eyes the amazing work that he does.

El accidente no solo destruyó su auto, sino que lo dejó con graves lesiones en el cuello y la columna. Sus heridas requirieron 22 días en el hospital.
