Rianna is my little sister and her story begins about 29 years ago when she was 18 months old. She had cancer, a Wilms tumor, and they removed her kidney and she underwent 6 months of chemotherapy. At 16, she developed chronic kidney disease and went on dialysis until she turned 18 and had a kidney transplant. Fast forward to now, she’s in end stage rental failure and on dialysis, plus she was diagnosed with hemolytic anemia, which can be fatal, if not treated. One of her anti-rejection medications, Tacrolimus, turned out to be the cause. She’s also experiencing loss of her vision due to retaining fluids, the cerebral fluids are causing the vision issues. She’s been in and out of the hospital for about 4 months now, as doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong. Multiple blood transfusions were required. Doctors are considering an Optic Nerve Sheath Fenestration (ONSF) procedure to. They go into the optic nerve and put a hole in it (microscopic) to drain the fluid. The fluid will be absorbed by the body and its safe for peritoneal dialysis patients when she begins that. She has a road ahead of her but we continue to stand on faith for her healing, however God chooses to bring it.
Rianna has been out of work since October 21st and her bills are adding up. She’s applied for disability but nothing has been approved yet. If you are compelled to help, I’d be immensely appreciative. Just contact me if you want to support her in another way or donate differently. She does not know that I’m putting this forth on her behalf but I know she will be so thankful, as well. With much love and appreciation!
