August 17th, 2023, four workers from a popular fantasy-themed cafe in downtown Anaheim called Requiem, were fired en masse while they were filing for a union election. No reason was given for said firings. Immediately after, the owner closed the shop for an entire week from August 19th to August 24th in an obvious attempt at union busting. The owner has ignored all attempts at communication with the union, officially filed as Requiem Workers United. Despite this, they are making moves to be recognized by the owner as well as their community.
We need help from the community to provide relief aid to those who were fired while we fight to get our jobs back and to bring democracy to the workplace. We also need help with the relevant legal fees while our lawyers are not only helping us unionize but also filing civil suits and claims for sexual harassment, wage theft, workplace safety violations, and civil rights violations.
