Support ReportHate.scot: Turning Reporting into Real Change

Across Scotland, many people experience hate-related incidents — but far too many never get reported.

Some people don’t know where to go. Others feel incidents aren’t serious enough to involve the police. Many simply want to be heard, understood, and supported without fear or complexity. As a result, a large amount of harm experienced by individuals and communities is never captured in data, never understood, and never addressed.

ReportHate.scot was created to change that.

ReportHate.scot is a new not-for-profit digital platform that allows anyone in Scotland to safely and simply report hate-related incidents — anonymously if they choose — across categories including faith, race, disability, gender, sexuality, and more. The aim is not to replace existing reporting routes, but to complement them by capturing experiences that currently fall through the gaps.

The funds we are seeking to raise will help support the platform in the following areas:

• Platform Development – Enhancing the current beta platform with improved security, multilingual access, and the ability to securely upload supporting evidence such as photos or videos.

• Data & Insights Tools – Developing a secure admin dashboard that will allow authorised partner organisations to view anonymised trends and insights, helping them better understand where incidents are happening and where support or interventions may be needed.

• Community Outreach & Awareness – Producing posters, leaflets, and pop-up banners with QR codes that will be placed in community spaces, places of worship, support organisations, and public events across Scotland to raise awareness of the platform.

• Distribution & Public Engagement – Supporting the cost of distributing printed materials and running awareness activity within major cities to ensure people know the platform exists and how to use it.

• Operational & Technology Costs – Covering essential software subscriptions, website hosting, security, and ongoing maintenance to ensure the platform remains stable, secure, and accessible.

These early investments will allow ReportHate.scot to move from a promising beta platform to a fully operational national resource that can provide meaningful insights and support for communities across Scotland.

Thank you for your support.
