RCC dad had his wallet stolen and lost cash, his bank debit card, his driving license, his social security card, his work permit card - all his documents. The thief was able to get his money from his bank account, which he has put in a claim with the bank to get back, but in the meantime, he has lost money and earnings as he can't drive for Uber without his valid license.

They live hand to mouth each month, and so all of this means he is $600 short for paying the rent. I'm trying to raise this for him, so the family of 5 are not at risk of eviction. I met them in my local police station in 2023 when they arrived in Chicago on a bus from Texas after crossing the border to seek asylum. I have seen them work hard to get through the shelter system and into their own place - their youngest is only 8 months, and I can't contemplate them losing their home and want to help.
