Ray is a devoted husband, father, and self-employed business owner who has always worked hard to provide for his family. In October 2025, Ray received the life-changing diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Since then, his health has declined, making it impossible for him to keep up with the demands of his business. This has led to a significant drop in income, just as his medical expenses have soared.

Ray’s treatment plan is intensive and ongoing. He currently takes three daily medications, receives hormonal treatment every six months, and will begin radiation treatments at the end of February. Each week, Ray must travel two hours each way to his treatment center, three times a week. These trips, along with the costs of tests, lab work, and new insurance premiums at the start of the year, have created a heavy financial burden for Ray and his family.

In the first 2 and half months after his diagnosis the bills for doctor visits, consultations, and beginning treatment totalled nearly $7000. Some of the labwork has been done to test for genetic markers which came back with results showing high percentages for inheritated gene mutations.

This information is vital as it helps protect and warn blood relations of the possibility of cancer down the line. For me, as his daughter, I was grateful my father took the time and care to get these tests done. Earlier detection often improves the outcome and increases survival rates.

Despite the challenges, Ray’s spirit remains strong. He is a loving, god-fearing Christian who has recently opened his heart and home to a four-year-old girl, beginning the adoption process to make her part of the family.
