Help Rawan's Family Get Their Green Cards
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rawan. I recently moved to the United States from Jordan with my husband, Moath, and our three young children—Ghina, Lya, and Mohammed. We arrived on August 29, 2024, filled with hope for a better future, but the journey has been incredibly challenging, both emotionally and financially.
Adjusting to life here has been difficult due to language and cultural barriers. Securing steady employment has been especially tough—compounded by our current immigration status. When we entered the U.S., we were issued temporary one-year green cards in our visas, which are set to expire in August 2025. These documents are not always recognized as valid proof of residency, which has caused us serious difficulties.
For example, our children’s Medicaid coverage was delayed by three months. It was only through the help of a local nonprofit that we were finally able to get the healthcare they urgently needed. The organization had to file multiple appeals just to get our documents recognized as valid.
Today, under stricter immigration policies, not having an official, physical Green Cards puts us at greater risk. We’ve heard heartbreaking stories of families being detained simply because they couldn't prove their status—and it terrifies us.
So far, only my husband has been able to obtain his Green Card, as it was urgent for him to begin working. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to afford the immigration processing fees required for me and our three children. The cost is $235 per person, totaling to $940.
This amount is beyond our reach right now, but with your support, we hope to finally secure the documents we need to feel safe and stable in our new home.
Any contribution—big or small—would mean the world to us and bring us one step closer to building a secure life here.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
