Hi, I’m Raven. This has been my reality for the past month. I’m 23, and I need your help raising funds to move my younger sister and me out of my mentally abusive home.

My stepfather came to me in private and said some things to me and my sister that I would’ve never thought he would ever say, given the circumstances. He always managed to have a temper with me and my sister when he felt we’re being disrespectful to him or sarcastic. He would also have this habit of losing things and blaming us, saying we stole from him. Yet in the end, he always tends to find them; we never get an apology.

He has threatened a wished death on us
multiple times when he loses his temper, but my mother usually turns a blind eye or doesn’t believe it. My stepfather and my mother called the cops on me on Friday evening over a situation that was blown out of proportion and based only on their emotions and assumptions. It all started with me asking my mother a simple question. I didn’t want my stepfather involved in that conversation at all. Still, sadly, the odds were against me. She called him over and told him lies founded only on her feelings; she didn’t care that he called my sister and me out of our names many times. They lied on my name, saying to the police that I would physically abuse my mother when I would never in my life lay a finger on her. No matter what she does to me, she is still my mother. My stepfather deceived the police, and it was basically their word against my own. The police told me to pack my things and leave. I believe this situation went unfairly on my end. I shouldn’t have been the one to leave, especially when I'm on the lease and he isn't, but again, it was my word against my parents.

My mother has only given me until this Tuesday to find a place, and due to the fact that I have no close friends near me, I would be homeless, living in my car. Staying in my car with no A/C in the Texas heat wouldn’t be enjoyable at all until I reached the amount of funds to get me into a safe space. I am working, but I only get paid below the amount I would need altogether for the place.

Anything helps, and I thank you all for the support and love.
