Hi, my name is Debbie and I am Rashad’s mother.

Over the past few weeks, my family has faced several life-altering events that have occurred over the last few weeks. My eldest sister passed, and was laid to rest December 14th. During this same time, my son Rashad was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 cancer. His condition requires intensive chemotherapy at Mercy San Juan Hospital. Because Rashad is unable to care for himself, I made the difficult decision to miss my sister’s funeral to be by his side. While my heart aches for my family back home, I know this is where I need to be. As a mother, I can't let my son face this battle alone.

In the last 9 months, Rashad has lost both his father and grandfather. With no immediate family members to support him in California, I'm his only support only support system at this critical time. As a mother, I do not want my child to be alone as he battles cancer and especially not during the Holidays.

Because I live in Georgia and Rashad is unwell to travel at this time, these events have caused me to step out of my comfort zone and humbly ask for help. The funds raised will go toward covering costs associated with travel, lodging, meals and transportation while I stay with Rashad in California. This will also help us prepare for his eventual return home when he is cleared to travel by his doctors.
