At the height of the pandemic, disillusioned by fast-fashion, I fell in love with the practice of taking a simple ball of yarn and turning it into a unique, long-lasting piece of clothing. After crafting a hoard of hand-made crocheted garments for friends and family I decided my talent would be better shared with the world. Motivated by my dad’s experience being unhoused, I started making wool beanies. At the start of this year I launched Raquella.Crochets, a small-business based in Washington D.C. with a social impact model; for every beanie bought another is given to someone unhoused in the D.C. community.
My hope is that, with the help of your donations, I can make at least 100 beanies for the local unhoused community before the harsh winter cold.
Your donations will go directly towards the cost of buying wool yarn. Any extra money will be donated to local shelters and food banks.
Whether you donated $1, $10, $50, $100, or more, your donation is making an impact! Thank you for your donations.
