Support Ramona Treviño's Heart Surgery Recovery

Donation protected
Hi. I’m Jennifer, the granddaughter of Ramona Treviño. I am making this to help my grandmother with her medical bills and to just help her a little as she will be in recovery for a few months.

As many know, she was taken to the hospital and had to have Open Heart Surgery.

Thursday morning, September 12th, she woke up having cramps and pains in her feet and legs. She then started having sharp pains in her chest that caused her to go to the emergency room early that morning. Once she got to the emergency room and they ran tests to figure out what’s going on, we found out that she was dehydrated and had an acute kidney injury. On top of this, she is diabetic with high blood pressure.

Since she arrived, she has been having low blood pressure and her sugar keeps spiking. They ran EKG tests to check her heart and the testing came back normal, but she was still in pain, so they felt something else was wrong. All day Thursday, they hydrated her and monitored her sugar and blood pressure levels. They wanted to do a procedure to go in and see what’s causing these pains.

She had a small procedure done Friday morning to go in and look to see what was causing the chest pains. Her results came back and they weren’t good. She is having blockage in 70-80 percent of her heart. They found a couple of blockages in her left main artery. Had she not come in, she would have had a major heart attack that we possibly wouldn’t have been able to catch in time.

The doctor gave us different options we could pick from to help this problem, and as a family, we decided what is best for her and her lifestyle.

We chose for her to have Bypass Surgery (open heart surgery) Monday, September 16th, early afternoon. With her being a diabetic, she is a little more at risk with the procedure and the recovery. The doctor ordered her to stay in the hospital till the procedure was done because it’s too much of a risk for her to go home and put any stress on her heart.

As she went into surgery, they started the surgery and saw that her heart was worse than they thought, so they ended up doing a Double Bypass Surgery. Everything went smoothly and she was off to recovery. Her recovery has been a journey of good and bad days. She is doing her best to get back to doing everyday things and strengthen her muscles. We are on day 9 post-op and she is still in the hospital recovering. Her next step is a rehab center. Her going to the rehab center will help her strengthen her muscles and teach her to get back to normal activities without putting a lot of stress on her heart muscles.

She is ready to be home, but we have a long journey ahead of us. I am so proud and thankful for her to be doing better every day and being strong through this journey. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, supported, and thought of her through this. We are beyond grateful for every single one of y'all. Thank you in advance to everyone who donates. I am forever grateful to you!

We will continue to keep everyone updated as she goes through everything. We are hoping that this will relieve her of some of the stress from financial burden this type of surgery creates. We are beyond grateful to have caught this early enough to get help and a solution. It's a blessing to have her here with us still. Thank you for everyone's prayers they are definitely working! Any donations of any amount is greatly appreciated.
