Help Us Build Bantry's New Rainbow Childcare Centre

We are delighted to announce that construction has officially begun on the new Rainbow Childcare Community Childcare Facility at Milleencoola, Bantry.

This marks a major milestone in delivering a long-awaited, purpose-built childcare centre that will transform early years education and childcare for families across Bantry and the wider community.

For over 25 years, Rainbow Childcare has proudly provided community childcare from its rented premises in Seskin. However, limited space has restricted us to caring for just 20 children at a time. Our new purpose-built facility will increase capacity to 66 childcare places, helping to address the growing shortage of childcare in our area.

Construction is now underway, with the support of MacKee Construction and DMCA Consultants, bringing this exciting vision closer to reality.

Why This Project Matters

Access to quality childcare is one of the biggest challenges facing families today. A lack of childcare places affects not only parents and children but also local employers, making it harder for people to return to work and for businesses to recruit and retain staff.

Our new childcare centre will provide:

Five modern playrooms catering for babies from 6 months, toddlers and preschool children

Safe and stimulating indoor learning environments

An 800sqm natural outdoor play and learning space

Safe parent drop-off facilities and dedicated parking

A modern, accessible building designed to serve Bantry for generations to come.

We're Nearly There – But We Need Your Help

This is a €1.5 million community project.

Thanks to years of planning and the incredible support already received, Rainbow Childcare has secured:

€750,000 in Government capital funding

€300,000 from Rainbow Childcare's own resources

€12,000 from Bantry Community Fund

We now need to raise the remaining €450,000 to complete construction, fit out the building, and open the doors to local children and families.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly towards:

Construction of the building

Interior fit-out and finishing works

Outdoor play and learning spaces

Furniture and educational equipment

Safety features and accessibility improvements

Everything needed to open a fully equipped, high-quality childcare facility
