Support for Raffaella Santoro

"It is difficult to know where to start when certain events happen.

On Saturday 2nd September 2023, Jane Santoro passed away after an accident earlier in the week while she was out on a bike ride with her daughter Raffaella.

Jane’s husband Giulio, has given us a recent photo of Jane and Raffaella together this August on holiday in Minori, Italy, where they spent some wonderful time together and described them as being two peas in a pod.

The number of people who wanted to send their love, thoughts, prayers, and gifts has been far reaching and massive. With education being one of Jane’s passions we wanted to channel this into a fund for Raffaella, who has just started in year 7.

As a long serving teacher, member of the leadership team and friend to many, Jane is a huge loss to all at Blessed John Henry Newman RC College. Head Teacher Mr Glyn Potts states: “Jane chose to serve our community because she recognised the talent in our children, but equally the opportunity we could gift them. She championed the underdog and ensured that her values guided every decision she made. She lived out her Catholic mission in each interaction placing the needs of others before her own. Newman lost more than a colleague, we lost a guiding star.”

Raffaella’s old primary school, Corpus Christi RC Primary School also want to support Raffaella and the family and added: "Raffaella has been a pupil at Corpus Christi since she was four years old. We have watched her grow into a kind, gentle and hardworking pupil. She contributed to the school life and school community in her role as a pupil chaplain. Her mum, Jane, supported her in all aspects of her life and Jane was always very supportive of the school. She was rightly very proud of her dear daughter, Raffaella".

This GoFundMe has been setup and is supported by Greater Manchester Police, where Giulio works. All funds raised are for Raffaella's education or plans when she is 18 years old.
