Support Rae Elisando's Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
My mother, Rae Elisando, and our family need your love and support more than ever. My mom recently suffered a stroke from a brain stem bleed 4 days before Thanksgiving (early hours of Sunday). She stumbled to my room around 1 am, complaining of tingling pain and numbness in her right side, and she was slurring her words. I called 911, and an ambulance rushed her to the hospital where she is currently relying on life support. Rae is stable but is looking at a months-long journey to heal and rehabilitate, during which time my family has lost our rock. My brother (Adeon, 14) and I (Maryjane, 21) just moved to Kentucky with my mom a couple of months ago, and her mom (Julie, 63) moved in the day of the incident, so our footing out here is still shaky.
Rae needs all your love and prayers, and my family needs support and funding so we can continue to support her. As her daughter, I have taken over her medical decisions and all bills. I will need a lawyer to be able to get power of attorney and possible guardianships. Unfortunately, as she was head of our household, I don’t make nearly enough to maintain the things we have, which she has worked extremely hard for her whole life. Some of these include a new mortgage of a little over $2000, a car payment of roughly $600, all utilities, phone bill, groceries and gas, medical bills, legal fees, and most importantly, health insurance at around $800 a month. I have pulled enough together to stay afloat for 1 month's bills. I have to take a little time off work to be with my mom, little brother, and grandma, as well as navigate my new responsibilities. As soon as I can, I'll be full-time again, but it still won’t be enough. My goal is to make enough to comfortably pay the next month's bills and hopefully still make something happen for my little brother's Christmas. I need help keeping our house. As much as I hate to be in this position of asking for financial support, I would do anything to make sure my family is okay and that my mom gets to come home to the things she has earned.
