Support Rachel's Dream of Starting a Family

Hello, I’m Rachel. 

I’m starting this GoFundMe to help me start my family through adoption. 

Why adoption? 

Having a family has always been important to me and something I have looked forward to since a small child. I come from a small family which was filled with love, laughter, support and happiness and I would like the opportunity to give a child the same in a loving and safe home through adoption. I can remember my best friend asking me what do you want to be when you grow up and my answer would always be, “a mom”. What would you name your baby, she’d ask? My response was always the same…Ava for a girl and Jackson for a boy. I’ve had those names picked out for as long as I can remember waiting for my turn to be a mom.

Caring for others and loving them is so innate in my true self that I want to provide that to a child. However, at the age of 35 I was diagnosed with the word no one ever wants to hear…cancer. I had no option but to have a total hysterectomy as I had a very aggressive form of adenocarcinoma. With this surgery, all hopes of me having children went out the window and my life forever changed. Now, two years post op and a cancer survivor, I am ready to start my family through adoption.

While I understand that adopting a child is a long journey filled with hope, excitement, and its share of challenges, I am ready for each and every one. As I navigate through this process, your thoughts and prayers for patience, understanding, strength and the right placement is so appreciated.

As you may know, adoption is also incredibly costly, with items such as: home study fees, agency fees, legal expenses, travel costs, and more.
