Hiya, my name is Freddy. I set up this fundraiser to support my friend Ranin, a queer Palestinian living in Ireland.
Ranin was born and raised in Jerusalem, Palestine, and later moved to Ireland to complete their masters at University College Dublin. In August of 2025, they had to apply for international protection in Dublin.
If you know anything about the asylum seeking process, it is that it’s long and unpredictable. At the moment, they don’t know if they will be granted asylum nor if they can even work while waiting to hear back on the decision.
As a result, Ranin has no steady source of income.
And yet, they are still volunteering for several community projects in Ireland and online with queer communities back home in Palestine. This is central to them. They continue to help build a sense of community wherever they can, because they have seen first-hand the impact mutual care can have on anyone undergoing trying times.
Currently, Ranin does not live in public housing or IPO centres and is not receiving government financial support. They are supporting themselves independently, with the help of their community, while navigating a long and uncertain process on top of debilitating financial instability.

This fundraiser is being shared only within trusted circles due to security reasons. Any support is welcome. Whether you can spare the price of a coffee or simply sharing the link privately with people you trust, it means a lot.

Hallo, mein Name ist Freddy. Ich habe diese Spendenaktion ins Leben gerufen, um Ranin zu unterstützen, eine eng befreundete queere Palästinensische Person, die in Irland lebt.
Ranin ist in Jerusalem, Palästina, geboren und aufgewachsen und später nach Irland gezogen, um einen Master am University College Dublin zu absolvieren. Im August 2025 musste Ranin in Dublin Asyl beantragen.
Wer sich mit Asylverfahren auskennt, weiß, dass diese langwierig und unvorhersehbar sind. Derzeit weiß Ranin weder, ob der Asylantrag gewährt wird, noch ob in absehbarer Zeit eine Arbeitserlaubnis ausgestellt wird.
Daher hat Ranin aktuell keine feste Einkommensquelle.
Trotz alledem engagiert sich Ranin weiterhin ehrenamtlich für mehrere Gemeinschaftsprojekte in Irland und online für queere Gemeinschaften in der Heimat Palästina.
Ein Gemeinschaftsgefühl aufzubauen, wo immer möglich, ist für Ranin von zentraler Bedeutung, auch durch die Erfahrung aus erster Hand, wie wichtig gegenseitige Fürsorge für Menschen in schwierigen Zeiten sein kann.
Derzeit lebt Ranin weder in einer staatlichen Sozialwohnung noch in einem IPO-Zentrum und erhält keine finanzielle Unterstützung von der Regierung. Ranin versorgt sich während des langen und ungewissen Prozesses und der zusätzlich lähmenden finanziellen Instabilität selbstständig mit Hilfe des näheren Umfeldes.
