Support Queens' Rapid Response

Queens is one of the best boroughs to live in because of the diversity of our community.
Our neighbors are at risk. This administration is attacking hard working, honest and innocent people - and it is not okay. While it can feel like there isn't a lot one person can do to fight back, we can all do something.
I am fundraising to help with the rapid response effort in our neighborhood. In Chicago, LA, and Portland, citizens have found that having a simple, clear way notifying each loudly is a key way to help keep people safe. I am hoping to purchase 1,000 whistles, and with the help of volunteers - will distribute them to our community.
When ICE is seen, the sound of a whistle can deter our at risk neighbors from an area and also serve as a call to action for those of us less at risk to show up, document and agitate their efforts. The plan is to share an instruction card with each whistle - both in Spanish and English - with what to do when ICE is seen (3 short blasts) or if you see them abducting someone (3 long blasts), as well as include information on our rights if approached.
Any funds not spent on buying whistles or printing these cards will be donated directly to the Mosaic Community Center here in Sunnyside, Queens.
Thank you so much for your time and shares. Stay vigilant. Stay kind.
