We are a group of five local high school students aiming to make a change in our community of Carmel Valley. Our mission is to tackle the issue of screen time during meals for young children. We created a group called Project DINE (Disconnect, Interact, and Nurture Engagement).
Through our own experiences, we have noticed that children frequently reach for their devices while dining out as a way to entertain themselves. We believe that by encouraging screen-free interaction at the table through fun alternatives, the overall mealtime experience will be enhanced.
To support this mission, we created what we call the BondKit, consisting of a small box with physical games like puzzles and card activities and a binder filled with coloring pages, word games, and madlibs.
We offer BondKits to interested families at local restaurants in the Carmel Valley and Del Mar area. Currently, we are established at Sweetfin, Panini Kabob Grill, and Davanti Enoteca. The BondKits are designed to be easy to use, entertaining for families, and accessible for all age groups. These kits foster mealtime environments where connections thrive, creating memorable moments free of screens!
Beyond restaurants, we also work with elementary schools to educate young students and promote awareness about reducing screen time.
Your support will help us create and replenish kits, allowing us to continue reaching more youth in our community!
Thank you for supporting us!
