Support Precinct: Defend Our Safe Space
Donation protected
We’re sounding the alarm: Precinct is in crisis.
We are one or two slow weekends away from having to close our doors.
Like many small businesses, we’ve taken hit after hit — from COVID shutdowns, ICE raids, and curfews to the steady decline in nightlife. But what threatens us now is even more devastating: we’re currently facing a lawsuit from a former employee, represented by a lawyer who we believe, in our opinion, has an anti-LGBT agenda, as there are multiple reports that he used anti-LGBT slurs in written emails at his previous law firm.
The lawsuit names the bar, the owner, and members of our management team, alleging discrimination against her as a cisgender woman — and shockingly, also claims that Precinct discriminates against white employees. These accusations are entirely false. But fighting them is costly — legally, emotionally, and financially — and we cannot carry that weight alone.
Initially, instead of launching a GoFundMe campaign, we asked for something simpler:
Come to the bar. Buy a drink. Buy a meal. Tip the staff. Show up.
We know how important it is to have a safe, queer community hub — and we feel the responsibility of that every single day. We’re not asking for handouts. We’re asking for solidarity.
However, the response has come with several requests to proceed with the GoFundMe for those who cannot attend in person.
Your presence matters—your support matters. Let’s rally together. From all of us at Precinct — thank you, and we’ll be here to hug you for it.
