Support Pops' Essential Home Renovation

Fred Stingel, my amazing Pops and lifelong resident of South Salem, NY, is facing a financial challenge. In order to remain in his family home, Pops must complete an essential home renovation that will drain his savings.

We’re asking for your generosity to help Fred fix his home so he can age in place, surrounded by the memories and the community he holds dear.

The Story:

Fred has lived on Smith Ridge Rd since before it even had a name. His family built the house he’s called home his whole life, and to him, it’s so much more than just walls and a roof. It’s a living, breathing reminder of his family’s hard work, perseverance, and love. Every time I visit, I find myself drawn to the framed photos scattered around the house—a lifetime of memories captured in one place. So many of those pictures were taken right here, in the home that’s adapted to our family’s needs through generations. It’s the house that raised my grandfather, raised my mom, and raised me. I’ll never forget the swing set I used to play on as a kid or how the backyard grass seemed like it was made for exploring whenever my grandparents babysat me.

Over the years, Fred has become known for a few things: the loud barking dog in his yard, his decades of experience fixing cars, his willingness to help a friend in need, and even his knack for offering advice when I call him from far away to describe some strange new noise my car is making. He’s not just a skilled mechanic but also a genuinely kindhearted person who’s always ready to lend a hand.

The house is in need of costly renovations to ensure it’s safe and functional for Fred to live in comfortably as he ages. This project is critical for his well-being but will deplete his savings completely—a burden no one should bear alone.

The Goal:

We’re hoping to raise $5,000 to help cover the renovation costs and help Fred stay in the home that means everything to him. Every dollar will go toward ensuring his house is safe, accessible, and suited for his needs.
