Help Bring Play Equipment to Troostwood Pocket Park in KCMO

Tax deductible
The Troostwood Pocket Park at 49th Street and Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, has been undergoing improvements since Fall 2024/Spring 2025.

Now, we're moving on to the second stage, which includes a covered shelter, an ADA-compliant walkway, and nature-play equipment. And we need your help to cross the finish line!

With help from grants from the Missouri Department of Conservation, the city of Kansas City, Missouri, Community Capital Fund, and others, the Troostwood Neighborhood Association (TNA), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, added native plants, trees, and walking paths in 2025 to make the park more welcoming and easier to use.

In 2026, our goal is to add natural-play equipment. Rather than standard playground equipment, the plan is to use natural features such as tree trunks and stones. These let children climb, explore, and learn while staying connected to the environment.

We think these nature-play elements will be both aesthetically pleasing and well-suited to the first phase of revitalization. They will also let children play with natural materials like stone and wood, which help spark their creativity.

Thanks to support from KC CAN, TNA will be able to purchase and install one piece of natural play equipment: a balance beam. But shipping and installation costs have been higher than expected to allow for additional equipment.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Your support will ...

  • Assist the neighborhood in purchasing three Jumping Discs, described as "an innovative piece of natural playground equipment designed to enhance children’s play experiences ... Its unique hexagonal design encourages physical activity and coordination, making it suitable for inclusive play environments where children of different abilities can engage together. "
  • Help pay for installation and shipping costs.

Join us in creating a positive impact in our community. Your generosity can help us achieve great things together.

Thank you for considering a donation!
