Hi, we are PITTSFORD CREW! a local (non-profit) rowing club located in Pittsford, New York, right by the Erie Canal. Since 1997, our club has been offering a competitive, safe and fun environment for youth in the Greater Rochester area and has consolidated itself as one of the most successful rowing clubs in the state. We teach rowing and inspire a lifelong passion for the sport, all while instilling the values of fairness, respect, and teamwork.
On Sunday, April 12th, our rowers, coxswains and hopefully some friends, will participate in our annual Pittsford Crew for COMMUNITY Erg-A-Thon fundraising event, which this year will take place at the PIRC (Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center) located at 2800 Clover Street Pittsford, New York. From 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM, our crew will compete on a variety of rowing events design by our coaches, using our erg machines equipment.
This event will help to raise money and awareness for not only Pittsford Crew, but also for a local non-profit organization selected by our crew. We hope you can come to cheer us on and get to know our club better. This year, the event will include an Open House, with some fun activities, for anyone curious about the sport, and interested in summer programs and beyond.
What are we raising money for?
Because PITTSFORD CREW is a non-profit organization and not supported by the local school districts, all of our boats, rowing equipment, launches, motors, boat lifts, enhancements, upgrades, repairs to our docks, and maintenance to our facilities are made possible by the fundraising efforts of our rowers, families, and community!
Also, because our rowers care about helping other organizations in our community, this year they have chosen PITTSFORD YOUTH SERVICES (PYS) as the local charity they want to support with our fundraiser. PYS is dedicated to providing youth and their families with confidential, professional and affordable social work services in the schools and Pittsford community.
Why is this important to us, and why do we need your support?
Crew is the ultimate team sport, and our athletes learn not only the commitment of teamwork but integrity and a sense of community. But your support is critical, to make sure our crew has the best possible equipment and facilities, necessary to succeed and be safe in doing so.
The values learned through the sport go beyond the water and extend into the community, in the spirit of giving back and helping others. Pittsford Crew is dedicated to furthering these endeavors by donating 15% of the proceeds raised at this event to this year's local COMMUNITY partner PITTSFORD YOUTH SERVICES.
