Standing with Mama P in Her Healing Journey
A beloved mother, sister, and pillar of the Filipino community is on a journey of healing and hope. Her name is Pia Lopezbanos Carrion, affectionately known as Mama P in the community.
Pia has dedicated her career to storytelling—working with ABS-CBN, one of the largest Filipino media and entertainment companies—helping amplify the voices of Filipinos in the U.S. and around the world. Her work has touched countless lives across the global Filipino community.
But now, our beloved Mama P is facing one of the hardest chapters of her life.
Over the past year, both Mama P and her husband lost their jobs—and with that, their health insurance. Then came the devastating news: Pia was diagnosed with cancer.
As word of her situation spread, friends, loved ones, and community members rallied around her with love and support. This GoFundMe was created by those who have been touched by Pia’s kindness, strength, and presence—and who want to give back in her time of need.
Pia’s Story
Her journey began with an unexpected diagnosis. What followed was surgery, and now curative chemotherapy to help prevent recurrence. The physical toll has been immense—infusions, fatigue, and the emotional challenge of losing her thick, unruly hair, once joked about for growing “three strands per pore.”
But in true Pia fashion, she met even that loss with grace and humor:
“Well, I have embraced the bold, bald look. And happily counted myself as part of the Kalbo Kollective.”
Through it all—chemo, pain, and uncertainty—Pia has continued to radiate warmth, sharing laughter with friends, selfies with scarves and bucket hats, and moments of light in the darkness. Her spirit remains strong, her faith unshaken.
Why We Need Your Help
Pia is the kind of person who always shows up for others. She makes you laugh through pain. She finds God’s light in the shadows. She comforts with quiet strength and lives with deep gratitude. Faith over fear!
Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
We’re raising $22,000 to support Pia and her family during this incredibly difficult time. Your donation will help cover:
Ongoing medical bills and chemotherapy treatments
Medication, recovery care, and transportation to appointments
Support for her family as they navigate life after recovery
No amount is too small. Whether you can give $5 or $500, your generosity will help lift the burden and give Pia the space to breathe, rest, and heal.
