Founded in 2026, Unlearning the Ladder: Arizona's First-Gen Leadership Association is a new nonprofit leadership accelerator dedicated to providing elite operational education, hands-on professional development, and community-driven economic mobility for the Greater Phoenix area.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between raw ambition and executive execution, equipping first-generation professionals and under-resourced business owners with the strategic toolkits, executive networks, and people-first leadership skills required to build a thriving local economy.

What We Do & How We Do It:

We believe that leadership isn't just taught in a classroom—it is forged through real-world execution. We provide a collaborative, physical hub and a dynamic ecosystem where emerging talent and local commerce elevate each other simultaneously.

The First-Gen Leadership Pipeline: We host intensive, cohort-based leadership accelerators for first-generation college graduates trying to break into corporate management. We strip away the abstract theory and provide them with the unwritten rules of executive leadership, strategic operations, and high-level corporate navigation.

Subsidized Executive Consulting: We offer elite, enterprise-level operational consulting to existing, under-resourced local business owners who do not have the financial means to hire traditional corporate retainers. We help them optimize their processes, scale their revenue, and expand their local footprint.

The "Live Lab" Apprenticeship: We intentionally intersect our two focus groups. Our emerging young leaders are placed directly into hands-on projects alongside these local business owners. Under the direct mentorship of seasoned corporate executives, they solve actual, real-time operational challenges, building immediate, measurable proof of their leadership capabilities.
