To know Peter is to love him. To know Peter is also to know that he has had a lifelong struggle with addiction. Three years ago, Peter moved to Minnesota to have an opportunity to go to a rehab rehabilitation center that is very supportive of the LGBTQIA community and where there are resources for those struggling with addiction that are not accessible here in Michigan.
Peter has struggled over the past three years to maintain sobriety and was recently graduated from a program that not only helped him get to the root of his addiction, but also to begin to help the mental health struggles that have continued to cause him to cycle through addiction.
He’s in a really good place and is living as the house manager in a sobriety residence. There is lots of public transportation available in Minnesota, but the problem is, in the area where Peter lives, there is rampant drug abuse on and near the public transportation access sites.
Peter is working through intensive outpatient programming (IOP) to work toward independence and part of independence means transportation.
In order to allow him to continue on this positive path to freedom from addiction, I would like to help him purchase an electric bike. This will allow him to have transportation that keeps him away from triggering situations that using the public transit system may present.
Any little bit will help and it is greatly appreciated. I am so proud of Peter and the work he has done and I really admire the fact that he has been able to be so far away from us and still do the work.
Thank you for considering, and if you are unable to donate, then please share!
