Hello everyone! This GoFundMe is for my father, Peter Blay, who has undergone a series of medical setbacks this summer which has deeply affected our family.

Through the spring semester, my dad experienced periodic dizziness and ringing in his ears, leading to a few falls which caused some injuries. He currently has to wear brace for stability due to spinal fractures from one of these falls and couldn’t work his summer teaching job.

In the past month or so, my dad has gone to the ER twice—once in an ambulance, had 3 CT scans, an MRI, seen a neurologist, has had multiple x-rays, and still has a series of appointments which neurology and an ENT to follow up on to ensure he is in good health. With all of this, there have been seemingly endless medical bills that my father, my brothers, and myself cannot even begin to imagine paying. My siblings and I have all worked since we were teenagers, helping our family financially where we can, but it is not enough. None of us know what we would do without our father especially after the passing of our mother over three years ago.

If you have the pleasure of knowing my dad, you know he does everything with enthusiasm and kindness, and these medical setbacks have not only been detrimental for him but for our family as well. My dad cared for my mom throughout her cancer journey and to her passing in 2021 without ever asking my brothers or me for any kind of help. He believes deeply in caring for others that at times he forgets to look after himself. He has been an example of a good, kind, loving person my entire life and has always supported my endeavors. I would not be the person I am today without my father and the kindness and love he has instilled in myself and my brothers.

I am happy to see him addressing these medical issues and taking steps to care for himself, but this does not come without hardship—emotional, mental, physical, and financial. My dad has dedicated his life to serving others and putting others before him. I cannot stress enough how much of a beacon of light he is in my life, my brothers’, and everyone he crosses paths with.
