Support Penny's Fight: Help a Family in Crisis

Donation protected
This has been the hardest year of our lives. Penny is 3.5 and on home palliative hospice for 12 months now. We were told weeks, maybe months, but she's survived over a year while still declining.

She has had 3 open-heart surgeries, countless procedures, a major hemorrhage that caused a helicopter ride to Denver, but we have reached a point where no more can be done without the risk of instant death being insurmountable.

Over the last year, our family has struggled as Brian (Dad) has not been able to work and had limited payments coming in. Just as the CO family leave benefits kicked in, his job decided he was a threat and fired him.

Brian trusted a peer at work who he vented to, who then screenshotted part of the conversation to use to get him fired.

In Brian's own words:
"I was let go from my almost 11-year job today while on leave for taking care of my 3.5-year-old dying on hospice.

I have a 3-year-old on home hospice (told weeks or months to live only but now has survived a year while slowly declining more and more) and they put a hard deadline on how much more accommodation they would give me as a 10-year employee with a dying kid. I thought it was ridiculous to put a timeline on my kid dying as even unpaid time to spend with her was all I ever asked for and took whatever else was offered when I could.

I vented a Luigi meme to a long-time friend at the company who turned out to be a bootlicker who screenshotted the meme and got me fired, taking away my insurance and state disability payments I was getting for taking care of my dying child. The company decided their profits were more valuable than a dying child of a 10-year top award-winning employee and used a meme to a friend as a reason to stop covering anything to help as I go through the toughest time of my life."

Before he lost his job, we had already accumulated 40k in medical debt and counting, and now need any help we can to keep a roof over our heads.

Penny is a fighter and we plan to show her 9-year-old brother that we are gonna fight and do whatever is needed, even asking for help from others who are able.

Thank you in advance for spreading Penny and our story and any help you can offer.
