Our beloved PCNC church needs your help - we need to shore up the foundation in order for us to open the doors once again in Summer 2026.
Background
For years the community has come together around the Methodist church at 1915 Platte Clove rd. Funds for the church, which cost $1,200, were donated by the public and the church was dedicated in 1897. A final service at the Platte Clove Church was conducted for the community on July 7th, 1994.
In 2015 Platte Clove Neighborhood Watch Inc. acquired the church in the hopes to make it a hub for the community at large. In 2021 a reinvigorated effort brough together our community of 150 members as Platte Clove Neighborhood Center (PCNC). We restarted the annual Potluck Picnic tradition and have held over 30 events as part of the Sunday Talent and Hiking series.
Vision
The long term goal for the PCNC is to have the church building open to community and tourists alike for events and information on the area. For the past 4 years our focus has been on community building. We created a platform that brings together generations of Platte Clove locals and the weekend homeowners, many of whom have become full time residents.
Our community enjoys sharing their love for the mountaintop, whereas our unique location allowed us to start a project promoting local knowledge to the visitors.
Current Project
We are pursuing state historical designation. However, our immediate needs call attention. We have been actively working on the church site. We removed the auxiliary building, laid new electrical cable to the church and rebuilt the back addition. This year we were able to replace the failing roof and secured funding from the Hunter Foundation to paint the building. Next up is shoring up our foundation. We are looking to raise $20,000 to REBUILD OUR FOUNDATION in the Spring. Completing this work would allows us to open the doors once again Summer 2026 to onsite programming.
