Aloha Friends and Family,
October 8, 2025 my sweet husband Paul Lamparelli had a
hemorrhagic stroke in Mexico. The doctor did not do an MRI until
the evening of the 10th. The next day they changed all his
medication. As they had been treating him for a ischemic stroke.
The medication cause his brain bleeds to worsen. And he was
fading fast. I arrived the 9th and started working on a medical flight
out of there as soon as I got there. He was not getting the proper
care. He was getting worse. I was freaking out and so scared. I
thought he was dying right before my eyes. I was an absolute
wreck.
October 13th we got a medical flight through Reva and arrived at
UCSD that afternoon Paul was completely out of it. He could
barely keep his eyes open. His left arm and leg where completely
paralyzed. They told me he would most likely need to be placed in
a nursing home! I was in shock. Right then and there I made a
decision to make Paul’s Recovey my number 1 priority. He was
not going to a nursing home! He could and will recover!
It’s crazy how much life can change in a matter of minutes. My
heart was shattered. I was full of fear and anxiety. Would my
husband recover? Paul is only 52. He is a kind, loving, generous,
man. He knows all his customers by name and has been a joyous
part of the Haiku community on Maui for 27 years. We are both
so very thankful he is still with us and willing to fight to get better.
Having help with our finances will take a huge amount of stress
off our shoulders. If you can help in any way—even a small
amount—it will add up fast. Every dollar will go directly to Paul’s
care. We have an ambitious goal. Paul’s insurance covers some
of his care but he needs more. We need money for extra physical
therapy. So we hired this awesome guy to do two more days a
week. Paul is also working with the best acupuncturist on the
island, Malik. He made a huge improvement after 1 secession!
He is also seeing an incredible osteopathic doctor. None of this is
covered by insurance. If you feel Paul has made a positive
