Hello friends,
My name is Stephen West. I am here to show love and support for my brother Paul West.
He is an amazing family man! A proud husband to his wife Liz, and Father to their seven children. Paul has struggled for many years with an undiagnosed issue that the medical world can't seem to figure out. It effects his ability to think and function due to brain fog and unable at time to process thoughts and get them into words. He is in constant pain. Paul is a licensed airplane and helicopter mechanic! He no longer pursues that field due to this issue and the seriousness of the work and people's safety. He in the past 5 years started his own business from scratch, building his own trailer setup and making a successful run out of it. It's been impressive to watch. He has willfully shared that knowledge with me and has helped me start my own business as well. He is a family man, mentor to many and true friend. He is struggling more each day to even run that business and at times considers shutting it down due to lack of thought process and pain. As his brother it's very difficult to sit and watch things deteriorate as time goes on. He has been to many doctors with no such luck. The main issue is that the medical world doesn't really recognize his issue as it's never been truly diagnosed. Due to this, insurance won't cover any procedures either. This creates a cycle of inability to function for work to make the money to provide for his family. Meanwhile insurance won't cover the cost of testing or procedures. Paul has spent years and years researching and trying to figure out what's going on. His last trip to Buffalo, NY was no help and also was told it wouldn't be covered by insurance anyways. Over the years he has followed this place in Florida who deals specifically with this type of thing. Clearly, they too can't accept insurance due to being so rare. He recently paid for an evaluation with them to go over symptoms etc. to see if he qualified for the procedure and if they felt they could help him. This was approved as he meets the criteria across the board. This is a huge break and ray of hope for him and us too as his family. With this being in Florida there is also some travel cost involved as it takes multiple trips for treatment. There is so much more I could write but I will leave it at this. My request is that you do what you feel led to do. I have many of these come across my feed, sometimes I donate and sometimes I don't. If my heart says yes, then I make a donation. If not, I say a prayer. If money is not in the cards for you then I ask that you say a prayer for Paul, his family and his healing. Here is to raising funds to pay for treatment and travel expenses and Prayers of encouragement and support. I can no longer sit back and watch, I must try to help! God bless you all for your prayers and anything you feel led to contribute. Funds will go directly to Paul!!
PS: If you have similar issues and have not been able to find relief, please contact me and I will put you in touch with him.
Below I will paste a document he typed of his issue.
Symptoms
• Brain Fog—Very hard to process and make decisions. Memory recall is slow. I have had to leave my aviation maintenance career because of this.
• Chronic Fatigue. Very weak. Heavy legs.
• Pressure in the head, stemming from base of skull and radiating around the head and making eyes heavy.
• Random ringing in the ears.
• When I blow my nose, I can't always hold the airway closed that forces air into nose. (Weird)
• The following muscles are always freaking out and cause a lot of discomfort.
1. Muscles between the shoulders and neck
2. Trapezius (Upper Back)
3. Muscles up under shoulder blades.
• Sometimes I have brief moments of balance issues.
• I have trouble regulating my temperature. I am usually hot and sweat in my sleep.
• Things feel worse when I lay down and I always feel like trash when I wake up. Sometime when laying down I can feel that something is not right in my head, and I need to move now. It feels like compromised blood flow or spinal fluid flow. I know that something is being pinched, and I can feel the effects internally.
• P.S. In my career as an aircraft mechanic, I would spend hours at a time looking up with my head practically laying on my back as I used a flashlight in one hand and an inspection mirror in the other as I inspected up inside wings. The job also required many uncomfortable head positions. If I do this now it messes me up really bad for a few days.
• I am not aware of any particular event that may have started this.
• Just this month (Feb-2025) I was talking with the nurse at my Dr. apt and happened to mention my past career to her and she said that “now it makes sense.” I asked her what she meant by that, and she said that her brother is also an aircraft mechanic and is having neck trouble.
