MY BROTHER PAULIE’S LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE

On Sunday June 2nd, 2024, my brother Paulie was riding home on his motorcycle when a drunk driver crossed the double yellow line and hit Paulie at a speed of 70 mph. Paulie swerved to the right but, unfortunately, due to the high rate of speed the drunk driver was going, Paulie’s left leg took the brunt force of impact and severed his foot at the ankle... Luckily I guess, an accident he had 10 years ago involving a deer left him with a metal rod in his left leg. That same rod saved his leg from getting ripped off at the hip. He then would have bled out and died at the scene. We can’t thank our friend Nick Tondo enough who acted swiftly in providing aid to Paulie when he heard the accident occur just outside his home. Also, a special thanks to the Mahwah Police department, EMT and fire department who all assisted in saving Paulie’s life. He was helicoptered out from the scene of the accident to Hackensack Medical University. Paulie is now a below the knee amputee. He has accepted this and is ready to move on with his life.

Those who know Paulie know how happy and content he was with his life. He had his girl Toni, his job and his new puppy/son YAGER. He was happy! This could have happened to any one of my motorcycle riding friends, but it happened to my brother. He has been extremely positive and is looking forward to starting this new journey in his life!

Unfortunately, when a tragic incident like this occurs, medical expenses become quite a burden. I am reaching out to the community to support Paulie during this challenging time in his life. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Again, I would like to thank everyone involved in saving my brother's life. Part of his leg is gone but his spirit and ability to laugh and smile and bring laughter to everyone he encounters, still exists as strong as ever. I still can't believe he survived. I'm happy he's alive and I thank God every day for his gift of life. Paulie is so grateful for all the kindness and love he has received from so many people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
