We are raising money to help support our not-for-profit organisation based in Skelmersdale, About the Town.

What we do:
For the last 4 years, About the Town has provided the community of Skelmersdale with innovative and creative opportunities for people to have their say, feel heard and share all the good in our community, which is often lost in the negative narrative historically told of our town.

We have done this via our free community magazine which is dedicated to Skelmersdale, and more recently, via our community hub.

The core focus of everything we do is to help improve the mental wellbeing of our community.

We do this in several ways.

In our magazines we only publish content that aims to uplift, inspire and connect people, while our community hub ‘ATT central’, which is based in the Concourse, offers more practical, in person support.

We are fund raising to help us to continue to produce our free community magazine and develop and expand our current projects that help tackle poor mental health, social isolation, employability, and food and fuel insecurities.

Our magazine and our Community hub also act as a signpost for other local services, and connects our community with the help and support they need, plus we offer a range of direct support via our in-house projects.

The most benefited parts of the community are those suffering from mental health issues, those on low incomes, and those dealing with social isolation, particularly the older generation.

We understand that with the cost of living crisis, many people need extra support, and our organisation has responded by providing many opportunities through our array of free and heavily funded courses, events, our community food cupboard, our twice weekly drop-in sessions at our community Hub 'ATT Central' and via our printed information.

Any support you could offer will really help make a difference to our small organisation, and will help us continue to provide the services for our community.
